Pengaruh Media Pendingin pada Perlakuan Panas Terhadap Sifat Mekanik dan Struktur Mikro Plat Strip Stainless Steel AISI 304

Abstract

The mechanical properties of stainless steel AISI 304 still need to be observed by conducting the heat treatment using various cooling media. Therefore, this article describes the effect of variations in cooling media on the mechanical strength of Stainless Steel AISI 304 after heat treatment. The method was the specimens were heated at a temperature of 900oC and cooled rapidly using a variety of cooling media. Furthermore, the mechanical strength was tested by means of a hardness tester and an impact test device, and then the microstructure was observed as well.The results show that heating treatment and being cooled quickly greatly affect the value of hardness and impact strength.
